It feels scarier and more intense in those dark hours, but somehow once the sun rises symptoms seem to be alleviated. LIGHT is necessary for life; if the sun stops shining, we stop living. Like we need the sun, we need light—the illuminated Word of God. These days, more than ever, we need Jesus—His Light illuminating His Word so knowledge becomes understanding and wisdom. There is absolutely no separation between Jesus, His Word, His Light, and the Zoe life that He purchased for us.

BIBLE VERSES

Our two main scriptures today are actually two of the main texts on which the Sunlight & Logos ministry is founded:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
“The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Psalm 119:130

Jesus is the Word—the Logos (John 1:1). Jesus is Light (John 8:12). The two are inseparable, just as the Word and understanding (which light represents) are inseparable. We know that knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, although often used interchangeably, are different.

In my journey with the Lord, I have noticed that many times we have knowledge of Scripture—we can quote it, memorize it, and sing it for decades—but that is where it ends. The Words we know do not always translate into anointing and power. There is little demonstration of their wonder-working nature. Why?

For a few reasons, but one of the main reasons is that there is no understanding of that Logos Word, and because there is no understanding, we do not have the wisdom to apply and live out what we are quoting, decreeing, and singing.

THE CONTEXT

Although we do not know who authored Psalm 119, many attribute it to David. This psalm speaks powerfully of the deep relationship we should have with the Word and the necessity and benefits of this relationship. It is the longest chapter in the entire Bible, with 176 verses, and most of those verses speak about the Word of God, a deep relationship with the Word, and a life built upon it.

The author uses several terms to describe the Living Word:

Law — direction or instruction

Testimonies — reminders of the covenant

Precepts — specific instructions for life

Statutes — permanent decrees

Commandments — authoritative orders

Judgments — judicial decisions

Word — God’s spoken revelation

Promises — divine assurances

All refer to the Holy Spirit-inspired Word of God, which is still living and active today (Hebrews 4:12).

In verses 105 and 130, we are promised illumination.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

This assures us that the Word provides both short-term and long-term guidance—it is a lamp for our daily steps and a light for our path ahead.

In today’s world—filled with AI, fake news, wars, and uncertainty—it is deeply comforting to know that we can have clarity for our next step and direction for our future.

“The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.” Psalm 119:130 (AMPC)

Verse 130 teaches us that the Word must enter. Having the Word but only reading it occasionally—or out of routine—is like having vegetables on your plate and not eating them. Just looking at them won’t do us any good; for nutrients to benefit your body, they must be ingested. The Word must be ingested.

The Hebrew word “entrance” literally means an opening or doorway—our hearts and minds must be open for the light and understanding to come. We must come to the Word as we are instructed to come to Jesus, like a child (Matthew 18:3).

I had a niece who, as a small child, would constantly ask, “But why?” She was curious and genuinely wanted to understand. That is how we must come—open, curious, and ready to receive. This verse says that when the Word enters our soul and spirit, it feeds the simple. This Hebrew word “simple” is not a derogatory term; it refers to someone who is open, humble, and teachable—someone who recognizes their need for guidance. Which of us doesn’t need guidance in this rapidly changing world?

Think of it like a capsule—you swallow it whole, but the shell must dissolve for the contents to work. Similarly, the Word must open up within us for its full benefits to be realized.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

So what does this all mean?

Psalm 119 shows that the author’s relationship with the Word is active and lived out daily. We can follow his example by:

Storing and hiding it in our hearts (v.11)

Meditating on it (v.15)

Delighting in it (vv.16, 24)

Observing and keeping it (vv.34, 67)

Trusting it (v.62)

Hoping in it (vv.74, 81)

Lamenting and pleading before God through His Word (vv.169, 170)

Singing it (v.172)

If we seek to implement even one or two of these daily, the Living Word will truly become part of our very being. In addition to these actions, here are some simple suggestions:

Start reading the Bible. You don’t need a theological degree or hours each day. Even one verse can nourish your spirit.

Explore the Word. The internet can be used for good to help you understand what you read and find relevant scriptures.

Pray. Ask the Holy Spirit, who inspired the Word, to give you revelation and understanding. Without Him, the Bible can feel like just a historical book, but with Him, it becomes living and active.

Pray again. Ask for help applying what you’ve learned.

Stick with it. Truth? If we are going to survive these days, it is imperative that we have more Word than world in us. The world is becoming increasingly dark, but the Word will always be Light.

Use the Word to test everything. The only way we will know if what we are absorbing is God’s truth is by measuring it against His Word.

CONCLUSION

2 Timothy 3:16–17 makes it clear that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful:

For doctrine

For reproof (conviction, not condemnation)

For correction

For instruction in righteousness

Its purpose is clear—that we may be complete and equipped for every good work.

We have work to do, and we cannot do it effectively without the Word (Ephesians 6:17). For all the benefits to manifest, we must go beyond knowledge—we must allow His Light to bring understanding, and then we must live it out. Even if it is just one verse a day, like taking your daily vitamin—take it in, let it work, and live it out. Because in these days, we cannot live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).

We need the LOGOS, the LIGHT, and the redeemed LIFE.

So until next time, let’s live His Word and let’s shine His Light.

Verses Referenced

Psalm 119:105

Psalm 119:130

John 1:1

John 8:12

Hebrews 4:12

Matthew 18:3

2 Timothy 3:16–17

Ephesians 6:17

Matthew 4:4

Today, we’re talking about forgiveness.

Forgiveness is a topic close to my heart, and I’ve come to see just how essential it is for everyone. For those who’ve walked through divorce, it’s often unavoidable. In the past few years, I wrote a chapter on it in my divorce recovery book, then included it in my Confronting Life’s Enemies book, and later created an entire Udemy course on forgiveness. Recently, I even gave a ministry teaching on it. Forgiveness is essential for spiritual and personal growth, and that’s my life’s calling—so here I am, talking about it again!

So, What is Forgiveness?

What is forgiveness, anyway? It’s an intentional choice to release negative emotions without seeking revenge or punishment for those who wronged us. It’s a deliberate act of our will.

Why Do We Need to Forgive, Even in the Worst Cases?

Why should we forgive every single time—even for the worst offenses like betrayal, abuse, or even murder? It’s natural to think, “Really, Coach D? You have got to be kidding me.” But if you’re a Bible-believing Christian, forgiveness is a commandment. It’s not optional—it’s essential.

The Bible is full of teachings that are easier said than done, and forgiveness is no exception. Yet, I’ve learned that God never asks us to do anything without also giving us the strength through the Holy Spirit. We have to forgive others so we can receive forgiveness for our own mistakes—because let’s face it, we all fall short in thought, word, or action. So, if you’re looking to walk in right relationship with God, that’s all the reason you need.

The Cost of Unforgiveness

So why do so many people carry unforgiveness, even to the point of it affecting their health? I think it’s because we often overlook the spiritual consequences, which are many:

Not receiving forgiveness for your own transgressions

Blocked prayers and weakened faith

And then there’s what it does to our minds and bodies: unforgiveness can lead to anxiety, depression, and even physical illness. We may not think about these consequences, but they’re real. There are also certain mindsets and myths that keep people trapped in unforgiveness.

Practical Steps for Forgiveness

I never like to leave you without some practical steps. Remember, forgiveness isn’t a one-time action—it’s a lifestyle. Throughout your life, people will wrong you, offend you, or hurt you. So, let’s start here:

Step 1: Acknowledge the hurt, whether it happened yesterday or decades ago. We all know—or have heard of—people who carried unforgiveness to their grave. Sadly, there’s no do-over once we’re gone. Take a moment to reflect on how these incidents affected your relationships, living situation, career, or even your ability to trust.

Step 2: Decide to forgive. Use the free will God has given you to choose forgiveness. This may not be easy, especially after bringing up old hurts, but this is where the Holy Spirit steps in. In moments where it seems impossible to forgive, His strength will be there for you. He’ll guide and comfort you.

Step 3: Commit to it. Solidify your decision however feels right for you. Journal it, share it with someone you trust, make a verbal decree, or even write a letter to the person and burn it. Taking an action beyond simply “thinking it” can make all the difference.

Step 4: Do a heart check. Have you truly forgiven them? Here are some ways to tell: Can you think of the incident without feeling angry, bitter, or vengeful? Can you talk to or about the person without bringing up what happened? Have you stopped rehearsing it in your mind? Can you pray for them sincerely? If not, you may need to pray more or consider speaking to a counselor.

I encourage you to take some time to think about what I’ve shared. Do some research, and study what the Bible says about forgiveness. I can share some relevant scriptures below if you’re interested. Look into the scientific research on how emotional issues impact the body, too. Consider the harm unforgiveness does to your spirit, mind, and body. And remember, it doesn’t just affect you—its impact ripples to others, including your children and future generations.

Tune in next time, where we’ll explore another aspect of forgiveness: dealing with offense.

Until then, on this journey of forgiveness with you,

Peace & Love,

Dawn here. Today we are talking about the Great Exchange.

As a child, we had this thing we did with an egg on Good Friday. I have no idea what this had to do with Jesus. This, and many other religious or cultural traditions, are repeated every year on the day we remember our Savior going to the cross. But the importance of that day passes some of us by. We wear dark clothes, we sing sad songs, but we do not appreciate that this was the day of the greatest exchange ever.

This is the most important day in history. This was the day Jesus Christ willingly and obediently allowed Himself to be massacred and die for all humanity. Why did He do it? For love’s sake. Because, as the famous verse says, “For God so loved the world, He gave His Son,” for whosoever believes. So let’s have a look at what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross.

Our main Bible verse is Isaiah 53:4–5 (AMPC):

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.”

Why is Good Friday good? Shouldn’t it be Bad Friday? After all, a man is massacred, pinned to a cross, and dies a humiliating death. So why is it “good”? It’s not because it starts a long weekend. It’s good because it is the day we choose to acknowledge the perfect substitutionary sacrifice made for us.

The days surrounding Christ’s crucifixion are crucial and should never be taken lightly. It’s the day we commemorate the price paid for us to receive healing, wealth, righteousness, peace, and eternal, heaven-bound life.

THE SUBSTITUTIONARY PROMISES

What I absolutely love about Isaiah 53:4 is that these Great Exchange promises start off with the word “Surely.” The Hebrew word means exactly what we think it does. These promises are a certainty—100% truth—should we choose to believe and receive. Let’s take a closer look.

His Wounding for Our Transgressions

This wound is not just a slight hurt, like mashing your thumb. This means He was pierced through. They took a giant spear and pierced His side. Why? To pay for all the ways we are rebellious—the times we willfully break the statutes of God and consciously revolt against authority. This is why He had to be pierced through. Thank You, Jesus!

His Bruising for Our Iniquities

Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m just this way, Jesus understands…” or “All my family is like this—that’s how we are made”? We say this to excuse behaviors we know are sinful. Jesus was bruised for all the ways we are bent toward sin.

This bruise isn’t like bumping your leg on a chair. The Hebrew meaning is crushed, pulverized, or smitten to pieces. That’s the price Christ paid for the things we excuse away—so we could be set straight. Thank You, Jesus!

His Chastisement for Our Peace

One of the greatest needs today is peace—we need it like we need food. That’s why we must seek peace and pursue it. But Jesus paid for that too. He was chastised—disciplined and corrected—so we could receive His SHALOM.

This is not just quiet or relaxation. This is wholeness, completeness, and health. Let us not pass this gift by in these tumultuous times. Thank You, Jesus!

His Stripes for Our Healing

One of the most powerful things Jesus did before the crucifixion was allowing Himself to be tied to the whipping post. He paid a heavy cost so we could walk in full physical and mental health.

“By His stripes we are healed.” This was confirmed in 1 Peter 2:24.

He could have called down angels or stopped it all—but He endured it so we could walk in divine health. The Hebrew word for “healed” means mended, repaired, restored to an original, healthy state. Regardless of symptoms or diagnosis, Jesus accounted for it all. Thank You, Jesus!

His Poverty for Our Riches

Jesus thought of everything. He knew poverty and lack would plague humanity, so He addressed that too.

Though He was rich, He became poor so we might become enriched and abundantly supplied (2 Corinthians 8:9). God has given us the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). Jesus established that provision. Thank You, Jesus!

His Rejection for Our Acceptance

Isaiah 53:3 tells us He was despised, rejected, and forsaken so we could be accepted in the Beloved.

It does not matter who rejects us—whether relationships fail, opportunities close, or people walk away. Our Savior, the most rejected man who ever lived, paid so that we are forever accepted by God. Thank you Jesus!

His Sin for Our Righteousness

Our righteousness is as filthy rags—we all miss the mark daily. But Jesus, who was sinless, became sin so we could receive His righteousness.

We deserved the punishment, but He took our place so we could take His right-standing before God. Thank You, Jesus!

His Death for Our Eternal Life

Jesus’ death as the spotless Lamb secured eternal life for us.

This is not just long life on earth—this is eternity with Him. A place with no pain, no death, and fullness of life in His presence. Thank You, Jesus!

WHAT ELSE HE GAVE US

His finished work also secured essential gifts for the Christian walk—gifts that are absolutely crucial and meant to be lived out every single day:

Resurrection power (Romans 8:11) — this power is alive and at work in every cell of our bodies and in every aspect of our lives. This is the same power that raised Christ from the dead, now living on the inside of us, bringing life, strength, and renewal where it is needed.

The Holy Spirit (John 14:16–17) — He didn’t leave us alone. He gave us His Spirit to help, strengthen, counsel, advocate, and intercede. It doesn’t matter if you feel alone or isolated—even on a desert island—the Holy Spirit promises never to leave us. We have access to His presence, His power, and His fruit when we invite Him to do life with us every single day.

Authority and power (Luke 10:19) — Jesus Himself told us that we have been given authority and power over all the power of the enemy. We are not powerless, and we are not defeated. Because of what He paid for us to have, we can stand, resist, and overcome the works of the enemy.

This is what we stand on. This is what we walk in. This is what we use as Christ’s ambassadors and soldiers upon the earth. We are not powerless. We are equipped!

OUR PART

One of the greatest gifts God gave humanity is free will. We can choose to receive or reject these gifts. If you do not know this Jesus, or you want to rededicate your life. Click here is a Prayer of Salvation .

That is step one.

These promises are covenantal. After receiving salvation, we must build and maintain our relationship with Christ and His Word. We need the Light and the Logos.

Walking in these promises takes diligence, obedience, co-laboring, and endurance. These are dark times, and the enemy will try his best to steal, kill, and destroy. So we must not only know these truths, but believe them and live them—even contending for them when necessary—so we can claim everything Jesus purchased for us on that Good Friday.

CONCLUSION

Jesus became poor and was stricken, smitten, afflicted, pierced, crushed, chastened, wounded, and killed for us, so that we may be prosperous, peaceful, whole, healed, righteous, and have eternal life. Jesus said in John 19:30, “It is finished!” The word used is tetelestai, a legal term meaning to bring to an end, complete, accomplished. This was not a down payment or an installment plan. It is finished—completely.

Do you know why I love Jesus so much? It’s not just what He did on the cross—it’s what He did after and is still doing.

So this Good Friday, stop, reflect, receive, and tell your Savior: Thank You, Jesus!

Until next time…remember: Let’s Live His Word, Let’s Shine His Light!

The sun that evening appeared as we had never seen it before at sunset We could only attribute its splendour to the present prevailing dust conditions. It was one of the days that this tiny little island was covered in a very thick layer of Sahara dust, and somehow due to the refraction of those dust particles, the brilliance of the sun was so clearly portrayed. My research discovered that dust causes the shorter wavelength light (blue, violet etc) to be scattered away, which leaves the longer wavelength light (red/orange) to shine through. That is what we saw as brilliant, phenomenal sunset that day!

This natural phenomenon caused creation to speak to me, and it reminded me of two bible verses, these are the main verses for today:

Our first verse:

John 1:5:

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

Our second verse is:

Isaiah 60:

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.”

It's not news that these are some dark days that we are living in. We can think of the darkness referred to in Isaiah 60 on a Macro level, such as the things in Matthew 24 that Jesus described must take place: ‘The wars, rumours of wars, nation against nation, famines, earthquakes, etc’ And we can also think of the darkness on micro level as Paul described to Timothy, in 2 Timothy 3 where men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, proud, blasphemers,, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control,, despisers of good, traitors, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. We are certainly seeing that darkness!

HOWEVER, there is good news! The gospel of Christ was, and is and will always be good news! The good news of Isaiah 60. It that in very dark times, the Lord's glory will arise on us. This glory, the hebrew word: Kabowd is translated here as weighty, so we can think of it as the weight of all that the Lord is, everything that makes Jehovah God…His power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing…that's the weight of the Light that is shining on us now. That is what has our backs in dark times!

The questions before us are:

1. What will happen if we don't make a concerted effort to let our light shine now?

How can people come to our Light and leaders to the brightness of our rising, if we aren't rising and shining?

You see there is no need for light except in darkness. We dont turn on the light switch if the room is bright. It is our responsibility to be luminaries of and for Christ! To be God’s very Light sources on the earth, like the sun is in the heavens. We're up! As we look around at the gross darkness on a macro or micro level, let's ask ourselves…are we shining the Light? Or are we hiding them under baskets? Just like the brilliant sun that day, it did its job regardless of the gross darkness and cover of dust, it could not be stopped and neither can we!

So let's discuss two very important and timely things:

1. How do we shine our Light, and

2. What are the attributes of this Light we are shining?

How do we shine our light?

Practically speaking, here are a few things we need to do:

We need to arise and shine. The AMPC version of the bible tells us to arise from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept us—rise to a new life.’ So we must access healing for our minds and emotions and make a determined effort to not let circumstances keep us pressed down, no matter how dark and dreary. We must seek peace and pursue it! We need to practice this now.

We need to Live and Walk in the Light. John 1 teaches us that our daily lives matter! God is Light, and there is NO darkness in Him at all. We cannot walk in the darkness, practice the darkness, act just like the darkness, celebrate the darkness, and expect our light to shine! The truth will not be in us, and truth fuels light.

We need to put on our Armor of Light as described in Romans 13. We are in a spiritual war, Jesus has fixed the end-time victory for us, yes, but we are in a present fierce battle nonetheless, and one of our weapons is LIGHT! However, we have the responsibility of putting it on, just like our Ephesians armour. It is optional.

We need to Let our Light so shine before men so they can see our good deeds. We must do good deeds. These good deeds could be our daily duties or those special assignments that we have been called to. We can shine our light in the way we care for our parents or our kids; we can shine our light on the job in any of the 7 Mountains of Influence, we can shine our light by using those special gifts or talents or anointings God gave us! So whether we are shining as a warm candlelight or a blinding stadium light. We must Shine it before men!

The Attributes of The Light:

In order for us not to be intimidated in the dark times, we need to remember two very important things about this Light that we need to shine:

The Light is not ours. Thank God…It is His!

The light we are being asked to shine is not our own light, we didn't manufacture it or get it on Amazon, the light we need to shine now is Supernatural! We couldn't trust our own light; they would be too fickle, shining one day, dimming the next, needing to change the bulb every minute. NO! We are taught in 1 John 1 that God is Light and in John 1 that Jesus is Light, the true, genuine, perfect and steadfast Light, Jesus is the light that illumines men! Jesus Christ is our Light Source! Our Light is God Himself who wraps Himself in a Light!

Light trumps darkness every single time! The AMPC version John 1 assures that:

Darkness is unreceptive to our Light! That’s why some people won't like us, and that's okay! They are unreceptive to our Light.

Darkness cannot overpower our Light

Darkness cannot put out our Light

Darkness cannot absorb our Light

Darkness cannot appropriate our Light, that is take it for one's own use.

I want to leave you with this thought and verse today. Revelations 22 says:

5 And there shall be no more night; they have no need for lamplight or sunlight, for the Lord God will illuminate them and be their light, and they shall reign [as kings] forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities).

Those of us who have given our lives to Christ, get to spend all eternity of eternities being illuminated by God Himself! Until then that very same light is inside of us and is needed right now to dispel darkness and illuminate the earth! This is the GOOD NEWS!

BTW, if you are not sure that Jesus’ Light is in you because you haven't truly surrendered your life to Him, I invite you to pray the prayer of Salvation and be sure! I have such a prayer on this channel.

Until next time,

Shining with you, Coach D

SCRIPTURES

Isaiah 60:

60 Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness [all] peoples, but the Lord shall arise upon you [O Jerusalem], and His glory shall be seen on you.
